Carmel Film Forum 2017

Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) is hosting the 2017 Carmel Film Forum on Friday, August 4th and Saturday, August 5th. It’s a FREE, fun, educational event crowned by a film screening and Q and A with a successful Hollywood filmmaker.

On Friday evening at 6:30PM James E. Moriarty of Moriarty Media will introduce Jon Schnepp, a successful Hollywood based producer, writer and director. James will have the first public screening of his new “Indy produced” short film, “BYTE”, and Jon will make the regional premiere of his feature length documentary, “The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?”. James and Jon will have a Q and A session on what inspired Jon to make his film and the challenges Jon had with crowd funding and distribution.

On Saturday afternoon Mez Murray, a Chicago based producer, writer and director will join Jon in a screen writers’ workshop that offers one to one discussions with aspiring filmmakers regarding the scripts or films they have previously submitted online. This unique feedback session can give guidance to those looking to make it to “the next level”.

On Saturday evening at 5:30PM an open panel discussion will be held with professionals in Indiana’s filmmaking community. The discussion will examine issues pertaining to Indiana filmmaking and provide an opportunity for those who want to become filmmakers to learn from professionals in the field.

Following the closing of the library, participants will be invited to relocate to the SoHo Café at 9PM to network, enjoy filmmaker inspired drinks, listen to live music and be entertained by “Mez Murray’s Filmmaking Horror Stories, Triumphant Tales and Tarot Card Readings”.
