I grew up in projects of Gary Indiana, but I somehow truly enjoyed my life and my surroundings. I often find myself creating pieces that remind me of home and the times of my childhood. I left Gary in 2000 to attend Ball State University where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. I primarily create oil portraits of African American women. I find the color of dark skin mesmerizing. There is a lot of depth in the skin tone and in my opinion a true reflection of their life experiences.
I experiment with a lot of bright and vibrant colors and textures. I am still learning and developing my artistic voice. While creating I often reflect on my childhood and the amazing women who helped raise me.
