About My Work:

I am interested in creating work that deals with documentation in both a historical and invented way. My paintings are constructed by combining my own memories with family photographs and found imagery. From a young age, I attended a yearly camping trip in California. Those memories are a reoccurring theme in my recent works, as I discovered that this vacation was the constant in my childhood, as opposed to a childhood home. I am, by nature, a transplant. I grew up moving every few years. This transient nature has created an obsessive habit of recording my surroundings visually. I utilize color emphasis and distortion to reinforce the evasive nature of memory and the notion that time and emotion can alter the accuracy of our personal recollections. Through this exploration of landscape in a nostalgic way, I search for the links between identity and nativity
