Storefront Theatre of Indianapolis Education Department

At Storefront Theatre of Indianapolis, we seek to expand the creative conversation with curious and inventive minds of all ages by offering a variety of theatre-based learning and exploration centered on developing new works created by community members on topics of import to them.

The Education Department will focus on teaching and providing opportunities in line with our mission: Focused on producing new plays by female and minority playwrights, Storefront stages productions in the style of Chicago storefront theaters: with small and intimate settings; raw, and underscored by emotional truth.

Director of Education, Maria Souza, received her MFA from The Actors Studio in NYC with a focus on Strasberg’s method which is directly in line with Storefront’s performance aesthetic.  Students will also have the opportunity to participate in collaborative performance techniques, creation of devised theatre pieces, play writing and script development, as well as movement training for actor.
