“As a scrap metal artist, I combine my belief in recycling with a deep appreciation for old metal. I draw my inspiration both from the world around me, as well as from the scrap itself; sometimes I set out to find a particular shape for a project, and sometimes a particular shape suggests its own eventual form. Knipe breathes new life into cast-off, unwanted objects by transforming them into art. Working primarily in metals and found objects, he creates whimsical sculptures, garden art and even furniture from old tools, hardware, and broken farm equipment. Knipe uses a variety of welding techniques, including arc, mig, and gas welding.
