Jeffrey Bird, Jr. holds an MA in US History from IUPUI and a BA in Theatre and a BA in History from Butler University. Jeffrey Bird, Jr. holds an MA in US History from IUPUI and a BA in Theatre and a BA in History from Butler University. Jeffrey grew up dancing in Muncie, Indiana where he trained in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, musical theatre, contemporary, and musical theatre, but now focuses his energies primarily on tap and some hip-hop. Growing up he trained with Gregg Russell, Ryan Lohoff, Mark Goodman, Cory Finn, and Julie Sizemore and has since benefitted from instruction and mentorship from Jenefer Miller, Cindy Hsu, Suzy Guarino-Hall, Sarah Reich, and many others. Jeffrey was an accomplished competitive dancer and now works professionally across the country. He serves as the Artistic Director and Pre-Professional Company Director of the Circle City Tap Company. Since joining the company in 2015, he has performed in various concerts and now directs all their full-scale productions. In addition to his work with CCTC, Jeffrey is also a professional member of Tap24.7 out of Phoenix, Arizona. He has toured the country performing with the company in their shows “TAPspeak” and “Murder at the TAP’ocho,” and has choreographed for two additional shows “The Lyrics MixTAPe” and “TAP X.” His choreography has been featured across the nation both competitively and in professional settings such as with the Circle City Tap Company, Tap24.7, and at Motor City Soles in Detroit. Jeffrey was on faculty at the Circle City Tap Festival in 2017 and taught at TAPapalooza in 2018 (Detroit) and 2019 (Phoenix & Seattle). With over a decade of teaching experience, Jeffrey has worked to take the best of what he has learned from his mentors to create a style that is aerobic and challenging.
Jeffrey is also a founding member of Character House Theatre Company in Indianapolis.
