John Moore was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in December of 1961. Youngest of five children, he started early with drawing and sketching, receiving lots of help and advice from Charleyn Moore, his mother.
In 1981 he got his first real job as a commercial artist, drawing black line illustrations for audivisual films and technical manuals.
In 1991 he earned his BFA degree in studio painting from Memphis College of Art.
