A Hoosier native, Scott began his art and design career in New York City as a graphic designer and illustrator, introducing him to a new world of art, design, and culture. Returning to Indy he co-founded Dean Johnson Design, a design firm with an emphasis on art and illustration, awarded an ARTI Award from the Arts Council of Indianapolis. His firm kept an art studio in the Stutz Building, helping launch the Stutz Show before opening Dean Johnson Gallery on Mass Ave, which exhibited local and national artists for 15 years.
Scott also served board positions including AIGA Indy, Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA), and the Design Art Society at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Because of this background Scott’s art blends commercial, graphic, and fine arts, exploring new ways to engage with and impact audiences in a positive manner.
