My name is Lorenzo Bryant, and I am a self-taught artist. After serving nine years in prison, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t serve the time, time served me. I was able to channel my creative ability and find my passion in being an Artist/Painter. The creative process from sketching the image to painting those fine details is true meditation for me. I hope you too can find joy within my work.

  • AK Fielding
    AK Fielding
Literary Arts; Visual Arts: Illustration, Mixed Media, Painting, Performers and Writers
I am a creative individual by nature. Academically trained in research and writing as an historian, I am also a self-taught portrait painter, illustrator, and mixed-media artist.I am as passionate about art as I am about American history. My historical and political essays have appeared on numerous new media publications and on my personal BLOG. Indeed, I have found that I must actively write about history and create art or fail at both. Creating art allows me another avenue to express myself and gives me the much-needed balance after the intensity required for conducting research and writing about history. My express desire is to produce art that I feel most connected to and one that is meaningful to others.I enjoy working with various mediums. Watercolors, acrylics, charcoal, graphite, mixed media, and ink are all favorites and often used in my paintings and illustrations. My art represents American history, classic literature, and events from the Bible. Art critics have categorized my work in line with Kahlo. I credit Copley, Rousseau, and Gauguin as the providers of my “academic” training in art.I just finished illustrating Benjamin Franklin’s Poor Richard’s Almanack and publishing the two volumes from my A Little Book of Revolutionary Quotes series. I am now working on illustrating classics, painting moments in American history, producing a new line of mixed-media stationery, researching and writing about the founding generation, and teaching kids about America’s Founding Documents.  Trehan’s Treasures is the name of my studio and represents all my art, illustrations and writings.

Literary Arts; Visual Arts: Functional and/or Decorative, Sculpture, Textiles
I was born in Kendallville, IN, in 1983. I studied sculpture and woodworking at Ball State University with Kenton Hall and Pat Nelson. Throughout my undergraduate career, I developed a love for sculpture and woodworking that has grown into a life-long interest. I graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture in 2006. I am continuously honing my skills and learning new techniques to incorporate into my art as my artistic career progresses. I currently live in Indianapolis, IN, with my wife and son, Becky and Oliver. My work has been shown in some group shows and juried exhibitions. My current series began with my undergraduate thesis but has continued to change and grow as I discover new techniques and take inspiration from new sources. The freedom and simplicity that working with wood allows me has created a turning point in my artistic career. My work incorporates elements of the human figure into functional furniture while using an innovative wood-inlay technique. My works do not depict the figure as a whole, but often take inspiration from smaller parts of the body that are then abstracted and simplified. I utilize aspects of wood itself, such as wood grain, to emphasize figurative elements within each sculpture. My designs are influenced by modern and contemporary styles but I use traditional woodworking techniques to create my art. Organic curves, exotic wood, unity, and abstractions are the key elements of my current work. I use wood-inlay to create lines, definition, and

I am inspired by the memories I associate with my identity, the effects of emotional labor, and the associated stereotypes. I use unique forms of storytelling to share concepts rooted in my own life. Each piece is a reflection of these experiences, and that of others. We can all relate to wearing masks to achieve the accepted standard within our own combination of subgroups. Growing up semi-isolated did not make me exempt from being implanted with habitual patterns, but it did allow time for me to develop an uncommon perspective.
