Dara G. Lewis
Performing Arts: Dance; Visual Arts: Graphic Arts, Illustration, Printmaking, Visual Arts Instructor; Drawing
Dara G. Lewis has always bee a visual learner. Growing up it was quickly understood that she needed greater visual reference than most to excel. But as she grew up if there was no visual reference provided she made her own which also started to help those around her understand concepts given. Growing up she had multiple artistic interests including ballet, visual art and horseback riding. Ballet and horses too precedent since being homeschooled prevented finding any good art teacher. She excelled in both and moved onto becoming a horse trainer in Dressage and other training disciplines. Still dancing she remained a ballerina and choreographer into her early twenties. Listening to her parents’ desires for her to gain a non-artistic education in hopes for a more “lucrative” career at age 19 she attended nursing school at the local community college in Sanborn, NY. She excelled within this field as well, although still sketching the human body during A&P classes to satisfy her artistic itch. One year into the two year RN program there was a problem. The college had ignorantly left open the formaldehyde vat the dissected cats were being stored during A&P classes. Dara’s station was right next to the vat and caused severe brain damage. Needing to drop out of college and plagued by seizures she spent the next 8 months in and out of doctors offices and hospitals waiting for an answer. The only thing she had was her art so she started drawing….a lot. After finding a medicine that worked things returned to a relative normal; but left side brain damage remained. She found certain things like coordination, language, memory and math very difficult. Professional possibilities narrowed greatly for her. She decided to cut the nonsense and go for what she originally wanted to go for…Visual Art. Showing a few times before finally building the courage and ability to drive she signed up for classes at the University of Buffalo, NY at the age of 22. Attending art classes gave her hope back. She graduated Magna cum Laude within three years and was asked to return for the Noncommittal show at the beginning of 2013. She moved to Indianapolis that year after a year long of Skype dating her soon to be husband. They met at the yearly Messiah Conference for Messianic Jews and Believers and fell in love quickly. After a second terror bout of seizures she married Nick Lewis later that year. Even more damaged she spent the next year on sabbatical from everything trying to recover; in 2015 she started making art again. Now a year later she is working on a new body of work with a specific range of themes.

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and studied at Herron School of Art and Design, graduating with a BFA in Drawing and Illustration in 2019. My concentration is in silk screen printing, with an emphasis on creating illustrative designs.
Visual Arts: Illustration, Painting, Photography
I compose images out of a drive to create, using any means and media available to me, in whatever combination produces what I see in my imagination. Making an image is the most sincere and truthful form of communication I have available to me. I am inspired by connection and appreciation of the subject or form, or its environment and situation. My preference of subject would breathe, think, and feel. This centers my focus on producing figurative work over architecture, landscapes, or detailed and complex artificial settings.
I use mixed media and pigments, both traditional and unconventional, with commercial and hand-made materials and mediums, using uncommon tools and applicators, and without prejudice to rules or convention. I strive for a level of realism that is consistent with life, over any heavy reliance on stylization or abstraction. My techniques can be unorthodox and without the constraint of traditional process – a rare benefit from being mostly self-taught. Regardless of the methodology, the subject or theme of the work remains respectful to point of reverence to classical themes and subject.
The goal is that the final product is true to my best abilities without regard to being easily categorized. I want to create images, and leave the explanations to others.
Visual Arts: Illustration, Jewelry
Anna Olson creates jewelry that has a simple, yet interesting, beauty. Her premier collection focuses on basic shapes and curves derived from her illustration work. She combines these simple shapes with texture to create not only a beautiful piece, but also a piece that you want to interact with physically.
Many of the pieces are hand fabricated, starting with a simple flat piece of stock. Others are hand carved in wax and cast which are then combined with fabricated elements. While each piece is initially inspired by Anna’s illustrations, she allows the materials to lead her through the design process which allows creativity to flow.
Anna began exploring her illustration and metalwork talents while studying for her BFA at Purdue University. It was not until eleven years later, in 2016, that she began work on her own collection. In those eleven years, she focused on advancing in the jewelry industry with hands on experience.
Each piece is hand made with the intention of creating a unique, durable and wearable piece of art.

For centuries humans have created art purely to express what was inside them, begging to be let out. Feeling a strong connection to the primal markings our ancestors used in their caves, on the cliffs, with piles of stones and even in the wet earth, I manipulate layers of materials with my hands and other simple tools as a way to connect back to those primitive urges. By using artistic, industrial and natural resources such as paper, acrylic, ink and even concrete, gravel, sand, stones and wood I tell visual stories using organic and geometric shapes. The act of physically connecting the layers and materials in each piece is a very fulfilling, sensory experience.
Creating abstract art has come to be a passion in my life and sharing the artistic methods I explore with others is a natural part of my process. I am continually fascinated by the originality that dwells within each person! Given access to the same media and techniques no two individuals create the same thing. Watching their progress as I guide them through an artistic process helps me to grow as an artist as well.
Viewers are drawn to my work by the texture, color and details. By spending time with my art they will also find things hidden within the layers, waiting to be discovered. I delight in the moment when those details reveal themselves to others, sparking inspiration, stirring emotions or provoking thought.
I’m originally from Hamler, Ohio, a small town in NW Ohio. I moved to Carmel, IN in October 2019. Freelance artist based in Indianapolis, IN.
I’ve been a perfectionist since birth and I’ll be a maker until I die.
Graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelors in Fine Art. I’m a trained illustrator, painter, muralist, screen-printer, sculptor, woodworker, and carpenter.
I’m passionate about creating works of art for people and businesses alike.
From an early age I developed an obsession for quality. As a child I would throw away little scribbles I had made if they were not “cool” enough, and my fourth grade teacher nicknamed me “Mr. Meticulous,” as I always perfectly spaced my math equations on my paper so they were clean and easy to read. Since I have become an adult, nothing has changed because when I create my work, I expect nothing short of accuracy and perfection.

My numerous years of graphic design experience transforms my paintings into a combination of Pop Art and Modern styles.
I work with large-scale canvas to create a strong impact of color and style.

I’m currently a student at International Business College (IBC). I am a freelance graphic artist, I love working on character art, and concept design work. I’ve done a few logos, and design packages, I love the satisfaction I leave my clients with once they approve of the final iteration.
I enjoy knitting, crochet, and embroidery as well. I love how I can weave graphics design into embroidery and how it all falls into place. I enjoy a bit of sewing, though it is a continual learning process for me, so I’m always eager to try new stitches and techniques!

Dreamer, analog junkie, artist, collector.
I’I’m an Indianapolis based artist, illustrator and self-publisher with a focus on astronomical art and space travel.
I’m all about empowering others through art, music, DIY/Zine culture, and comics! I hope to encourage others to be curious, explore the world around them, and embrace science.
I have taught bass guitar and zine making for Indianapolis Girls Rock camp, instructed art courses for Forever Fit Summer Camp, and led workshops on zine making and rubber stamp creation for Indianapolis’ Gluestick Festival. Even though I never received a degree in art, I love to paint watercolors and write/draw comics on the daily. I always have a sketchbook and you’ll probably see me drawing in it while at the pub.
When I’m not making art and zines, I enjoy reading, urban sketching, going on adventures with Vyvyan (the wonder pup) and playing bass/singing in a few punk bands.

My work makes the viewer think. It is mostly done in a photo-realistic style using graphite and conte. I want my work to ultimately change the way modern art is viewed among society.
I grew up in a toxic environment where my role models were my abusive, alcoholic parents, and my heroin-addicted brother. Most nights were filled with arguments, screaming, and violence. My only escape was through my art. My safe haven was a locked door, calming music, and a brush. I truly believe that art is the reason I was able to avoid being sucked into this toxic environment, and for this reason, I can write this letter today. I owe my life to art. It was, and always will be, my therapy. I was able to block out the yelling and create new worlds and environments to thrive in. This is where my passion radiates. I want to show the world just how powerful art can be, and how it can heal people mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I want to help people. My career goal is to work in a hospital or hospice with children. I want to help give them the childhood they are missing because they are sick. I empathize with them. I had to grow up way too fast in my environment and that just sucks. I want to help improve their quality of life, even if it is for a short while. It is worth it to know you made a difference in someone’s life, for an hour a day, twice a week. They could forget they were sick for a bit and just be a kid, and I want to be that person for them. I am an extremely dedicated, devoted, and passionate individual. I know I can make a difference if I am given the opportunity to learn, create, and conquer in this program. All I need is a platform to shine.
